so i was looking up historic covid stat trends in Alameda County and LA County in preparation for my trip to Oakland next weekend, and took a look at Korea’s since last week my family was talking about a spike in Korea
woa Korea is having an unprecedented surge in February 2022
cases were 0 for all intents and purposes for the entire duration of the pandemic. Measly surges like “1,000 cases a day” in December 2020 were considered “emergency spikes”
And then by February 17, 2022 it climbed up to 110,000 cases a day
I remember family commenting “it’s high because we test so much”
that can’t be true.. Korea was notorious for testing a ton of people from very early in the pandemic.. if I remember correctly. In contrast, I never got a chance to see a test in LA until March 2021, even though I had been trying to get tested since Fall/Winter 2020.
